Obsidian is a form of volcanic silica glass. It is usually dark in colour. The person who discovered Obsidian is Obsius. This stone is quite easily confused with smoky quartz.

Obsidian is associated with the Base Chakra. It is said that obsidian enabled ones to confront his or her pain, fear and energy blockages.

Obsidian in the polished form has also been used for scrying. Obsidian is less common than common crystals, but can still be found in crystal shops.

The types of obsidian includes Back obsidian, Apache Tears and White-patterned snowflake obsidian.
